STRUCTURAL ASPECTS OF MAGMATIC ROCKS: Comparison Between Outcrop and Seismic Data Interpretation From Western Iberian Margin

This 5 day professional training course takes place along the Western Iberian Margin (WIM), between Alentejo Basin (including CAMP and Sines Igneous Complex) and the Lusitanian Basin (including Sintra Igneous Complex and Lisbon Volcanic Complex), in Portugal.

The main objective of the field trip is to highlight the complexity and problematics of interpreting magmatic-related structures on different datasets and at different scales (outcrops, seismic data, potential fields data), while understanding the implications of magmatism in the regional and local structural framework, hydrocarbon maturation, reservoir properties distribution, trap creation and/or destruction, natural hydrogen generation and CO2 sequestration and mineralization.

SALT TECTONICS IN CENTRAL NORTHERN CALCAREOUS ALPS (SALZBURG REGION, AUSTRIA)

This 4 day field course will take place in the Salzburg Region (Austria) between September, 8 -12th 2025 and explores the role of salt tectonics along the Wilson cycle: from rift to passive-margin and from passive margin to orogenesis. We will detail the control of salt tectonics on syn-tectonic carbonate despositional systems, and the feedback sedimentary depocenters exert on the developing salt

This field trip focus on the structural aspects of magmatic rocks and is part of the 8th Conjugate Margins Conference that will take place in late May at Lisbon, Portugal.

The field trip will happen between 25th and 26th of May 2024 along Cascais and Sintra coastal area (Lisbon, Portugal). The main objective is to highlight the complexity and problematics of interpreting magmatic-related structures on different datasets and scales (outcrops vs seismic), while understanding the implications of magmatism in the regional and local structural framework, hydrocarbon maturation, reservoir properties distribution, trap creation and/or destruction and generation of natural hydrogen accumulation and CO2 sequestration and mineralization.

AAPG Salt Basins TIG Field Trip in Portugal October 2023

It is a great pleasure to invite you all to join for a salt-focused field trip to the Lusitanian and Algarve basins that will take place between 16th and 20th of October 2023. Geo Logica is thrilled to inform that is organising the third field trip for the Salt Basin Technical Interest Group (TIG) that will take place early this year in Portugal.

This highly technical field trip, especially designed for professional structural geologists and salt experts, will be led by Pedro Barreto of Geo Logica alongside Prof. Ian Davison (former Earthmoves and Royal Holloway - University of London) and Dr. Ricardo Pereira (FCT NOVA & Dom Luiz Institute, Lisbon).

Our field guides will take participants from salt diapirs and salt mines along the southern coast of Portugal to fortress towns built on top of intra-salt limestone stringers and examples of salt-sediment interaction along the West Atlantic Coast. This field trip will cover a multitude of salt-related themes, including implications on oil and gas exploration and production, geothermal energy, Carbon Capture and Sequestration and underground energy storage.

Full details of the trip, including itinerary, cost and registration details are available click here:
