SALT BASINS TECHNICAL INTEREST GROUP FIELD TRIP

The already world famous Geo Logica Salt Basins Technical Interest Group Field Trip is back again in 2025. The fifth iteration of this professional field-based training course will take place between 6th and 10th of October 2025, along the #Lusitanian and #Algarve basins in Portugal.

From #salttectonics and its interaction with sedimentary and igneous processes, the upcoming course is certified by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) in association with Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos(APG).

This technical training course is especially designed for professional structural geologists, salt experts, mining geologists and geophysicists, focusing on the role of salt-related structures in the ongoing #energytransition process.  It will cover a multitude of salt-related themes, including implications on #oilandgas #exploration and #production#geothermal #energy#CarbonCapture and #Sequestration and #underground #energystorage.

The course will be led by Pedro Barreto from Geo Logica alongside Prof. Ian Davison (former Earthmoves and Royal Holloway - University of London) and Dr. Ricardo Pereira (FCT NOVA & Dom Luiz Institute, Lisbon). 

Special discount rates available for EFG - European Federation of Geologists (20%) or APG - Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos members (10%). Early bird discount available (10%) for the first 5 participants until the end of March 2025. Field trip limited to 15 participants and reservations will be on a first come, first served basis.
